The Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S) dance school was founded in Brussels in 1995 under the direction of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Theo Van Rompay. Conceived as an ongoing artistic project, every 3 years an international group of young dancers take up a versatile curriculum of dance, music, theatre, visual arts and theory.

Art is not something you can learn, P.A.R.T.S. believes, but hopes that the material offered confronts and provokes. P.A.R.T.S. strives to be a productive basis for future artistic practice. It is a breeding ground where critical and creative artistry can take root. P.A.R.T.S. is a group of strong individuals building together a stimulating group dynamic.

For this series, photographer Maria Baoli was inspired by the links between photography, sculpture and the human body.

“The photos represent artistic experiences, choreographies and intimate gestures, and my desire is to find moments to share and to experience, in order to explore how we can create a intimate link in the public space and how our bodies can connect through movement and freedom.”
